The first question we asked was "dou you enjoy your life in China?" To our surprise,Steven gave us a very simple answer:"yes."We were very embarrassed because Steven kept silence for a while. Then to our surprise again,Steven smiled to us and gave us an unforgettable lesson.

S:When you ask someone a question, you are supposed to ask an open question but not a close question. The close question is like ’Do you ……’.An open question can let people say more and make your interview easier.
R:"So what do you think of your life in China?"
S:"Now you see it’s a different question,a better question.Well,I enjoy my life in China."
R:"So how do you find the student in Shiyan Middle School?"
S:"They ’re the best student I’ve taught. They have strong will to learn."
R:"Most Chinese students are not good at speaking English, could you give us some advice on practicing spoken English?"
S:"I think the life experience is important because life experience can not be learned from book. That’s why people make great progress in foreign language when they go abroad."
R:"What’s your first impression of China when you came to China for the first time?"
S:"I came to China in 2004 for the first time.My first impression of China is that the people are friendly. In fact,I’ve known something about China before I came to China because I have Chinese wife."
R:"Every year, there are many students in Shiyan Middle School who will go to English-speaking countries for further studying, could you give them some advice on going abroad?"
S:"If you want to go abroad, you should choose wisely for the right reason."
R:"Have you ever taught English in other countries?Do you teach the same things to the students in different countries?"
S:"I’ve taught English in eight countries,it’s similar. In Europe, they grow up with English, but you are growing while learning. That may be the difference."
R:"Do you like the job as a foreign teacher? In China, teachers are comparde to red candles, and are you and your teachers the same?"
S:"Yes,of course. In our country,we almost have the same social stadium as you do.But as I’ve told you in my class that nurses are respected the most,a teacher’s job is similar to a nurse’s job."
R:"We know that you’ve been a teacher in eight countries. Is there any difference about teacher and student’s relationship between these places?"
S:"I think Chinese students respect their teachers more.In other countries the relationship can be more relaxing."
R:"Can you tell us your aim on your job?
S:"Sure.I live to work, but not work to live. And I think one should follow his dream for it may come true for a man is not a man unless he tries."
R:I’ve heard that you’ve traveled a lot. What life experience have you got?
S:"I think life experience can not be learned in a book. And as a teacher I think I shouldn’t teach my student how to do ,but teach them how to learn to do."
